我看医疗改革

虽然我自己去医院看病不多，可今年陪太太去了不少次医院，见识了紧急抢救护理常规医疗以及各种专科医生。太太的医疗保险比我在学校买的便宜，可是看到医疗帐单co-pay我们还是觉得头大。现在医疗改革希望能给每个合法居民提供医疗保险，据说反而能够提高医疗诊治效率，缩减社会保障开支，我对此深表怀疑。据我观察太太看病这几家医院的医疗条件应该说在本地算不错了，但是有几次误诊或治疗延误都是因为医生专业分工过细，谁也不肯在早期做比较大胆的非常规诊断，怕出问题承担责任，而且由于信息不对称，我们自己自然无法在早期做出最有利于治疗的决定。最后还是靠太太同事的推荐才找对了医生。现在政府能提供的不过是一个可以选择的价格上可能有竞争力的社会保险，真正的医疗选择和治疗花费并不因为政府提供的保险而能有本质的变化。穷人如果之前没钱买保险，就算现在政府给提供了可以支付得起的保险，可看病的选择真会改变很多吗？还不如把这个钱投资教育和医学研究，增加医生患者之间的信息透明度也许更有效些吧。 BTW, after months of treatment, my wife no longer needs IV pump now; she feels very happy jogging around our house and enjoying the sunshine in a mid-autumn sunny day.
