去新加坡信息融合年会感觉吃的真不错
很久没吃得这么过瘾了——从海南鸡饭和叻砂(Laksa)到榨火龙果、杨桃汁和新鲜的毛丹,即便在大食代尝一小碗炒萝卜糕也别有风味。新加坡有很多热带水果、小吃、甜点、涮各种串烧海鲜的大排档,美食品种多得惊人,各国风味的店家遍布地下商城。会议晚宴居然上了八道菜,还吃到了鲍鱼,真是我参加过的会议里晚宴最丰盛的一届。

给领导换换口味——号称本地最好的面包三明治
Short Stop Po-Boys 有多年历史了,卖的快餐里属各种本地的面包三明治最受欢迎。看小伙子切法式长面包,烤牡蛎和黏鱼,把新烤好的海鲜放入夹着生菜叶子的面包里,闻着面包里散发的香气,实在是一种享受。缘缘妈总算不用老喝骨头鸡汤,可以换一下口味了。一转眼小缘缘已经满月了,她开始好奇地打量挂在摇椅上的小甲虫,不过更多的时候还是处于对外界不闻不问的状态。今天,妈妈兴奋地发现,小缘缘的脐带夹已经脱落了,以后就天天都可以给她好好洗个澡了。

周末喝咖啡吃炸面团的好去处
很久没和LD一起去Cafe du Monde喝咖啡吃炸面团了,最近发现在Kenner Mall的Cafe du Monde坐下来喝一杯au lait很惬意。午后人不多,不用担心感染H1N1,而刚出锅的炸面团吃起来分外香甜。

摘蓝莓
周六和LD还有以前在UCONN的老朋友一起去巴吞鲁日北边的一个农场摘蓝莓。下午四点后太阳仍然很毒,我们每人腰里挂个小桶,在一人多高的蓝莓树丛间穿梭,寻找已经成熟的紫色蓝莓。我和LD边尝边摘,最后两个人合起来才摘了刚刚四磅,农场的老头建议我们以后清晨来采蓝莓,这里早上八点就开门了,日照没那么足,先来人的可以挑不同品种的蓝莓都随便摘一些。晚上我们和朋友一起在一家日本寿司自助餐馆大块朵颐,吃了不少三文鱼和金枪鱼,夜里回家又不得不再吃蓝莓增加抗氧化物促进食物消化,看LD的意思等蓝莓完全成熟还要去摘它个十磅。

枇杷熟了
随着圣帕特里克节(爱尔兰的节日,人们习惯穿绿色衣服戴绿色饰品,游行的花车也都打扮得绿油油的,花车上扔下来的彩珠多半也是以绿为主,还夹杂着扔蔬菜水果以示庆祝)的结束,春天已经不知不觉悄悄来临了,我家院子里的两棵枇杷树都先后长出了不少枇杷。可惜北面一棵树枇杷结得太小太密,而南面那一棵树还没等枇杷变甜就都被松鼠们搞走了,松鼠常常是用爪子把枇杷拨弄下来,却并不都吃,每次被我看到都气得不行,恨不得把松鼠窝给端了。昨天为了请客搭梯子摘了些熟枇杷,虽然不多可也算是新鲜,在一般的店里还买不到。客人觉得枇杷太酸没怎么吃,我倒是自己享用了不少,生怕来一场雨今年就再吃不到新鲜枇杷了。LD建议我今年好好给枇杷树施肥剪枝,也许明年能有个好收成。

喝早茶
新奥尔良没有特别适合喝早茶的地方,能找到的最近的一家点心楼在东巴吞鲁日。我和LD周末去点心楼总赶上人爆满,要等到过了午饭时间,粤式小点才慢慢上来,如果是饥肠辘辘开车来吃一顿,通常要饿到前胸贴后背才能等来小碟的凤爪,鲜竹卷或是芋头酥。这些东东都非常腻,不过LD爱吃的肠粉倒是有三种:虾,牛肉和叉烧。此外我们常点的还有蟹黄烧麦,清汤馄炖,牛腩河粉,虽然味道不算正宗,可也对得起往返的时间和油钱了。以前我家附近就有家馆子可以喝早茶,后来变成上海餐馆,现在从修斯敦挖来川菜名厨朱师傅,口味也变得巴蜀了,左近却再难觅到喝早茶的地方。
