The debut of China basketball team

It is quite fun to watch the NBC live broadcast of the first backetball game between China and US team in the Olympics 2008. Surprisingly, the first quarter seems to be a close game. Yao made the first 3 point shot for the China team and his teammates also made a few threes to keep the team in the game. However, the US team with quite a few telented NBA players dominates the defensive end and does not allow any open shot from the inside. Clearly, the China team can not maintain high percentage of those contended 3s. The second quarter is the turning point where the game becomes completely in favor of the US team. James, Howard and KB made many fast break points and the team leads all the way to the end. It is not healthy that the China team can not find any offensive play inside the painted area. Yi missed quite a few shots including some open looks. With this level of play, the China team with Yao may not have a good chance getting into the final eights. Let’s hope that the team will build up some chemistry in the following elemination games.
